Last week we talked about core strength – this week upper body strength, meaning your chest, shoulders and especially arms. These days it seems that a lot of kids (and big kids) only exercise their thumbs using their touchscreens. The art of climbing trees is going as schools prune away all lower branches for fear that a child might climb and fall. Rope swings and rope climbing are banned and, even handstands are prohibited in some schools because they are ‘dangerous’. So how do our children gain upper body strength? Physie, of course! Our curriculum includes many positions and movements that safely enhance upper body strength to create strong and healthy girls and women of all ages.
Here’s some exercises to practice at home to increase your upper body strength.
