Physie has lost another stalwart.
Betty Graham, a beloved and pioneering figure in the world of Physical Culture, passed away peacefully on 18th June, surrounded by her family.
Betty began teaching Physie in 1951 and devoted 65 remarkable years to the sport she loved. Teaching was her greatest passion, and Physie her greatest love. She was not only an innovative choreographer of both syllabus and entertainment items but also introduced the BJP teacher-training programs that continue to shape generations of Associates today.
When asked to help expand Physie “west of the Pacific Highway” she started the Parramatta Zone and encouraged hundreds of students to become teachers over the decades. She always stood for honesty, integrity, good sportsmanship and a deep commitment to the values of Physie, along with a philosophy that you get what you work for.
A memorial service to celebrate Betty’s life will be held on:
Saturday, 5th July
12 noon
Roselea Community Centre
645 Pennant Hills Road, Carlingford
Refreshments will follow the service, along with time to share Physie stories and memories.

Betty’s legacy lives on in every teacher she mentored, every student she inspired and every routine performed in the spirit of joy that she championed.
May she rest in peace.
