Natalie Allen is our Ladies National Champion, video performer, Physie teacher and a busy mum – and she does it all without a large bowel and with a Stoma. Not long ago, she ran a workshop in Taree and Tamika from Maitland felt incredibly lucky to meet her. Why? Because Tamika has a stoma too. When Tamika first got her stoma, she was scared and anxious about how she would cope with work, motherhood and doing Physie. Her mum asked if Natalie would talk to her and of course Nat said yes. How wonderful that the Physie network could make this possible. At the end of the workshop, Tamika’s mum couldn’t hold back tears of happiness that her daughter was smiling and felt confident that she could do anything… even compete this year! Both ladies were happy to share their story with the Physie community. Here’s what they said…

“It was so nice to meet Natalie and have the opportunity to chat about how she best works with her stoma. Because it’s a taboo subject, it was amazing to speak to someone who is so positive about their circumstances and makes the most of every day. She is inspiring and she has given me the confidence to compete again. I’ve seen Nat on the video doing amazing physie but what most people probably don’t know is how kind and down to earth she is. I’m so glad we were able to come together through Physie.”
Tamika

“Back in 2018 when I needed my bowel re-wired, I had absolutely no idea what I was in store for. I had never known anyone who’d had this surgery and I didn’t know what to expect. It was one of the toughest and most confronting times I’ve ever faced. I recently met beautiful Tamika, who’s had to face the same reality as me and came to me for advice. We had a great chat and spent some time together. I received a beautiful message from her a few days later thanking me for opening my heart andhelping her regain the confidence that she once had prior to having a stoma. Not all disabilities are visible and a stoma bag should never EVER stop you from reaching your dreams xxxx”
