My name is Charlotte and I am the founder of Bourke Physie! I started Physie when I was 11 years old and it has been such an important part of my life ever since.
I moved to the rural town of Bourke in January 2022 to become a primary school teacher. The closest form of dance for kids out here is a three-hour round trip, which isn’t feasible for all the families in Bourke. I knew that Physie was just what was needed in Bourke. As an affordable form of dance, it is accessible to the people in Bourke. And the fundamentals of Physie perfectly support children’s teamwork, strength and confidence in a nurturing environment with their friends.
The support from the Bourke community has blown me away! In the first 24 hours of advertising Bourke Physie, I had over 40 expressions of interest, and many messages from the community offering their help. In our opening week, we have almost 70 expressions of interest and still counting! I am so proud to be part of the Bourke community and to be able to bring this to the incredible people that live here. And I’m grateful to the BJP Physie community for their support in making this happen!
If you know anyone living in Bourke, please tell them that Physie has arrived in their town…
