Teaching Tina Turner’s dance moves to schoolchildren was not in Emily Brissenden’s brief when she was recently deployed for a short-time in Papua New Guinea for work – but that’s exactly what she did!
While working in Papua New Guinea, Emily was invited to Ndrolou Primary School to teach ‘Aussie’ dance. For two hours she endeavoured to teach the basics of physie to the children including ballet, gymnastics, contemporary and disco. The final dance included teachers and parents dancing together to Tina Turner’s Nutbush City Limits.
‘I love teaching dance to all children and, just before I left Australia, I packed the BjP preschool music CD in my bag just in case” Emily said. ‘I wanted to share my love for physie and I got the chance to do just that. And it was no surprise that the children loved The Milkshake dance the most.’
