Physie clubs from all over have been heading to the heart of Sydney in the school holidays to view the Physie Photographic Exhibition at the State Library of NSW. This week a group of about 50 members and parents from Hinchinbrook club picnicked in the Domain before going up to the Dickson Gallery to check out the physie photos and watch the 12 minute video on Physie. “It was so great to see our sport showcased in such a high profile way” said teacher Cheryl. “The girls were amazed to see that the position neck rest today is the same as it was 100 years ago!”
They loved spotting themselves or girls they know in the photos and some took the opportunity for a quick practice. But it was the long history of physie and how much physie has changed through the decades that was the biggest surprise to the girls. Mia said ““It was interesting to know about past physie.” Alyssa said “I liked looking at how the clothes everyone wore to physie has changed.” And Sheridan said “It was great to see how physie has changed since I did it when I was young.” Some of the girls even gave the Security guard a quick physie lesson and were pleased to see his yard was pretty good, although his upward stretch left a bit to be desired…
