Merrelyn Haywood has been teaching physie for 48 years! She also taught Associate classes for BJP in Sydney for many years. On Australia Day recently, Mrs Haywood was amongst 40 recipients presented with a 2012 Moreton Award recognising outstanding Community Service in Brisbane’s Southside. The Awards were presented jointly by Federal and State Members. In receiving the award, she was lauded for her years of teaching BJP Physical Culture, helping girls and women of all ages stay fit and fabulous. Sunnybank club is exceedingly proud of her (she was nominated by the club president) and many of the Sunnybank physie ‘family’ were in the crowd cheering her on for her special moment. When asked how she felt about the award she didn’t know whether she was more pleased or embarrassed to be recognised for simply doing something she loves.
