Have you ever wondered what a Physie Champion gets up to in the off season? What does a physie girl do when she doesn’t have her weekly class to attend?! Here is a glimpse of what Jill Catterall has been doing in her time off.

What makes physie so special for you?
Physie is special to me as it has always been a constant throughout my life. Starting physie at the age of 6, it is a part of me, no matter what has been happening through my school years, through family heart ache, work, travel, marriage and babies, my amazing club has been there every step of the way. I’ve been fortunate to share this experience with my 3 sisters, and hopefully one day my daughter Zoe.

How has physie moulded you as a person?
Physie has shown me how to be confident in myself and my abilities. It has given me the skills and drive to keep going and keep pushing to be the best version of myself that I can be. From a young age I was taught that results are an incredible bonus, but the real reward is celebrating what you are capable of achieving and enjoying yourself along the way.

If you could go back in time, what advice and lessons learned would you had given to your “younger self”?
You only have one body and how you look after it is up to you. Working hard to better your skills and abilities is important, but make sure you acknowledge what you can do, and don’t focus to much on what you can’t.

What do you like to do in the physie break?
Trips to the coast, movie nights and weekend picnics which include lots of yummy food with my family and friends. Best time of year for giving your body a rest and enjoying the people around you.

What’s your favourite hobby or something that people might not know about you?
My husband, two babies and my job in the public service keep me very busy! But this year I decided to do something for myself, and started studying nutrition just for fun. It’s always been something I have been interested in but never had the opportunity to pursue.

How do you keep fit, healthy and flexible over the break so that you’re ready for the new year?
I love going on walks with the family of an evening, and with friends whenever I can. My kids love doing yoga with me as well.

Do you have a favourite personal quote you either heard or have made yourself?
“You would be surprised at who is watching your journey and who is being inspired by it. Don’t give up”
