Lifelong physie girl Kirsty Schofield was recently awarded “Outstanding Australian Female Investigator of the Year” by the Commissioner of the Australian Federal Police. She credits physie with giving her the presence and strength to lead others.
She says, “Physie’s motto of Empowering Girls for Life resonates with me for the roles I undertake at work. I’m often asked about leadership and the courage to do what I do and my answer is simply…… ‘I do Physie – I get in a leotard and perform in front of a full audience at the Opera House. Everything else is easy compared to that!’”
Here’s an excerpt from the Commissioner’s speech about Kirsty at the awards presentation night…
“Federal Agent Kirsty Schofield has been a police officer with Australian Federal Police for over 25 years. She is a natural leader, applying her significant education and experience in supporting women in policing and improving the way the organisation conducts business. She is an outstanding, innovative investigator who is passionate about her work and significantly enhances the profile and professionalism of women in policing. Her excellent investigative skills and vision has enabled her to continually adapt the model to meet the needs of one of Australia’s largest and most dynamic operations. She possesses the innate gift to convince others to follow her leadership, empowering members to take ownership of investigations. She has promoted women to senior positions within operations whom she considered qualified and provides diversity in the work space that is conducive to co-operation and respect.”
Congratulations Kirsty. Everyone in the physie community can be proud of your achievements.
