Upright Balance

  • Raise the leg backwards passing through a toe point
  • Ensure the raised leg is straight
  • Keep both legs turned out
  • Hips need to be kept level and not rotated to assist the lifting of the leg
  • Body must remain upright
  • Ensure the lifting and lowering of the leg is completed with control.
  • It is important that the body does not tip forward to gain extra height with the raised leg. The upper body must stay completely upright. An excellent guide is to keep your head directly above your supporting foot). There should be no strain in the neck, shoulders or arms.
