My life as a Physie girl in 5 words is….. best decision I ever made.
My earliest Physie memory is… before I even started Physie my mum took me to an Interclub to watch her friends. I sat there all day, not watching the physie, but watching all the young girls laughing, stretching, helping outside on the food tables and merchandise stalls. They all looked like they were having the best time and I said to mum in the car on the way home, “I want friends like that and I want to try this physie thing next year”.
The best piece of advice I ever received is… to believe in myself. My favourite quote is…. Don’t just want it, don’t just wish for it, work for it and make it happen.
My favourite Physie moment was… when my number was called for 1st place at the 2020 State Finals. It was the first year of the Covid pandemic and the only audience were teachers. I could hear all my teachers stand and cheer for me because they were so proud. Seeing my mum outside and hugging her after I won is a moment I don’t think either of us will ever forget.
I’ll never give up Physie because …. I just love it and I can keep doing it until I’m old and wrinkly. No matter what my day has been like, after going to physie, I feel great and I forget about anything that made my day challenging.
When I’m not doing Physie I’m ….. at school mostly, but I love to spend time with the horses down the road and I volunteer my time to help at the local equestrian centre. I also love hanging out with my little brother – we laugh and be silly a lot.
I’ll always be grateful for …. The belief my mum and teachers have in me. Because they believe in me, it makes it easier to believe in myself. But I also can’t answer this question without mentioning the opportunity to perform on the Training Video for 2021, it was the most incredible experience and hope I get to do it again one day.
If I could have any superhero power it would be…. To make people happy.
My favourite routine is…. Normally it is relaxed but this year I’m obsessed with the dance.
To prepare for physie competitions … I stretch, walk through my work, eat pasta 🍝 and ice cream 🍦for dinner, I make a wish and I read my physie diary with all my congratulatory messages from previous years.
My favourite thing about performing is…. Escaping. I’m usually fairly shy and quiet and I’m not overly confident person but, when I dance, I feel empowered and confident in what I’m doing. I feel proud and I want to show everyone how much I love doing what I do.
I’m looking forward to…… going back to the Opera House and watching the Senior National Finals again. It’s my favourite day of the year and I can’t wait until I can have the chance to perform there myself.
My Physie teacher always says….. You’ve got this Mia….. and breathe. They also tell me they believe in me and I need to hear that x
I am inspired by…. Sally Lamplough. I watch her every Monday after my own class. She always gives everything she’s got in every lesson. She has won 18 times and been on the DVD 6 times and her physie is just amazing.
THE POWER OF FRIENDSHIP
You can’t buy self-confidence right? No. But you can get it through friendship. Your Physie friends have your
