My life as a Physie girl/lady in 5 words …. Doing what I love everyday.

My earliest Physie memory is …. coming to class when I first started Physie – I was 6 years old and so scared as it was a new environment that I would hold on to my mum for dear life. But as the weeks went on miss Alyssa (my teacher at the time) would slowly encourage me to come and do some Physie and ever since then I loved it.

The best piece of advice I ever received was …. “Walk out on to the floor like you own it”. That advice has given me that confidence I needed to feel powerful on the floor.

My favourite quote is …. “Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time.” Thomas Edison

My favourite Physie moment was …. when I won my First National title in 2021. It was everything I could ever ask for. I had been working very hard for years to achieve a National place but I was lucky enough to come away with a cup. From the moment my number got called out I was in shock. I could even hear my teachers and parents scream even though all I could see was black (because the lights shine in your eyes at the Opera House) but I knew they were proud of me.

I’ll never give up Physie because …. I find so much joy in going to class and competing and because of the life-long friends I’ve made though Physie. I don’t know what I would do without them. I also find it’s a great escape from stressful reality, which we all sometimes need a break from.

When I’m not doing Physie I’m …. at school in year 11 working hard to achieve my HSC next year. I also am involved with music, in particular singing, as my dad plays guitar and we do little performances for school and other occasions.

I’ll always be grateful for …. my mum. She has supported me through everything. She offers to help me practice at home to get my positions right and she helps get me motivated not just for physie but for school as well. I don’t know what I would do without her.

If I could have any superhero power it would be …. Strength. Could you imagine how strong you would look on the floor at nationals?

My favourite routine is…. Relaxed – it’s just stunning. With the new music out as well it just creates so much more story to what you’re watching. Relaxed is the time at comps where you can breathe, catch your breath and relax while telling a story.

Preparing to perform on the 2022 video was… stressful at times but, overall, an amazing experience. I loved working hard in class with Miss Mandy and Kiara and at home leading up to the shoot. I’m so grateful for the experience and thankful to everyone involved.

My favourite thing about the video shoot was…. Everything! I loved getting my makeup done and getting all dressed up in the new activewear. Also meeting all the amazing physie champions and getting photos with them all.

I am inspired by …. Kiara Wray. She has been one of my physie teachers for about 4 years and I’m inspired by her every day. Kiara use to win a National title every year when she was my age. Now she’s teaching girls amazing physie and she’s always there to help you find ways to stretch effectively. Someday I want to be exactly like her.
