Physical Culture in Australia was established by Hans-Christian Bjelke-Petersen in 1892 and celebrated our 125th birthday last year!

Christian developed a program that was adopted nationally in schools. His vision was that “Physical Culture would give the coming generation the increased ability to do work with body and brain and therefore lead to greater prosperity, better health and greater happiness.”  And thus was born the latin motto that we still use today: “Mens sana in corpore sano” – a healthy mind in a healthy body.
