125 Year Spectacular – FAQs
What is the Show?
A spectacular presentation of the rich 125 year history of BJP Physie in Australia, told dramatically through dance by thousands of performers.
Where is the show?
Qudos Bank Arena, Sydney Olympic Park. (Was Allphones Arena/Acer Arena/Superdome).
When is the show?
Saturday 24th June 2017 – all day dress rehearsals, all zones. Evening show.
Friday 23rd June 2017 – all day rehearsals (Country + Interstate zones in the afternoon. Sydney metro + W’gong zones in the morning.)
How many items will there be?
Each performer will be in 3 items: one with their own zone, one in a combined item with their sister zone and then in the finale.
Who can perform?
You must be in the 9 year age group or older in 2017 to perform. You must be registered in 2016 to apply and you must be registered in 2017 to attend rehearsals and perform.
How do I apply to perform?
Application is available on-line from 9am on Saturday, 3rd September. After applications close, you will be advised if you are in the cast. Applications are accepted on a first come, first served basis. Each family member will need to submit a separate application.
How many can perform?
Numbers are strictly limited in each zone, on a pro-rata basis proportionate to the size of the zone. Your application will be time/date stamped and those who apply first will be accepted in each age group, until that age group is full. After that, applicants will be put on a waitlist and accepted if a spot in their age group in their zone becomes available.
How do I know if I am in the cast?
You will receive an email advising whether you have been accepted into the cast as soon as all information is collated after registration closes. This should be some time in November. We’ll keep you posted.
If you are accepted there is a fee of $55 (inc gst) which will go towards your costume and rehearsal hall hire. Depending on costuming and prop requirements, there may be additional funds required and you may be asked to contribute towards fundraising efforts for your zone.
When will we rehearse?
Zone Rehearsals will be on Sundays in the period from 19th March to 18th June. The number of rehearsals will depend on which zone you are in and how far you have to travel for rehearsals. The Event Leaders of your zone will advise you about this.
Where will we rehearse?
The venues are being booked at the moment and your teacher will be advised as soon as bookings are confirmed.
How will we learn the choreography?
You will learn it at home by watching videos provided to you by your Event Leaders. Rehearsals will focus on bringing all the performers from different clubs together and creating dramatic items that tell the story, so it’s important that the steps are learned at home beforehand.
What do we have to keep secret?
Everything about your items must be kept confidential and no cameras or phones will be allowed at rehearsals. We want the show to be a huge surprise for the audience and performers alike. This means you can’t talk about your items with anyone outside your zone or post anything about it on Facebook, including photos.
How can I help?
This massive undertaking will require everyone in your zone to pull together to bring the show to life. If you have talents and skills at anything from making costumes, to fundraising, to marshaling performers please offer your services to your event leaders. All volunteers will be greatly appreciated!
The zone you are in for Junior champion girl is the zone you will be in for 125Y, except for a few clubs who will be notified.
Who should I call with questions?
All questions should be directed to your physie teacher who will contact their zone’s Event Leader.
