Bjelke-Petersen physical culture celebrated it’s 120th birthday last Saturday night with 120 of our teachers. It was a great night of happy celebration and recognition of our long history in Australia. We particularly remembered all those who’ve gone before that made BJP what it is today. With the walls lined with old photographs, there was plenty to remember including tunics and beehives, Grace Bros, the Ballarat Squad, Athenians, the Centennary and the Opening Ceremony of the Olympic Games. There will be another celebration in Queensland this weekend at the
Surfers Paradise Lifesaving Club, 7.00pm Saturday 17th March. All BJP teachers past and present are welcome to attend. Please contact us for details if you are interested.
The following teachers recevied awards for service to BJP, which were presented at the event:
20 year medal: Chris Hodges, Diane Gardiner, Diane Ehsman, Jenny Murray, Leanne Piper, Karen Allan, Belinda Creswell, Lyn Creek, Julie Pond, Vivienne Booth
30 year medal: Tracey Bradley, Lynnette Comrie, Elizabeth Scott
60 year medal: Betty Graham
BJP would like to thank Sheila McCarthy for all her hard work making this such a wonderful evening.
