In physie, individual pursuit is great and there’s nothing wrong with setting personal goals and shooting for them. But there’s something very special about being part of a team – where everyone’s working towards the same goal, where the teacher instils a common purpose, where it’s not about how good the individuals are but what the group can do together.
In the famous words of Babe Ruth, “The way a team plays as a whole determines its success. You may have the greatest bunch of individual stars in the world, but if they don’t play together, the club won’t be worth a dime.” He was talking about baseball of course but the same goes for physie.
