This week there’s a theme to our blogs – they’re all about teamwork. In physie, individual pursuit is great and there’s nothing wrong with setting personal goals and shooting for them. But there’s something very special about being part of a team – where everyone’s working towards the same goal, where the teacher instils a common purpose, where it’s not about how good the individuals are but what the group can do together.

In the famous words of Babe Ruth, “The way a team plays as a whole determines its success. You may have the greatest bunch of individual stars in the world, but if they don’t play together, the club won’t be worth a dime.” He was talking about baseball of course but the same goes for physie.

Teams are not about stars, they are about putting your own ego away and working to the level that all the team members can achieve. A chain is only as strong as its weakest link and one of the most wonderful things to watch in physie teams is how the girls look after each other and help each other to improve. This is where we see the true meaning of sportsmanship – when the strongest girls want to bring the weakest up to their level. And then everybody wins.
