Back in the 1930s it was popular to use props in physical culture, a little like today’s rhythmic gymnastics. They used clubs, sticks, discs and cymbals. Here’s a copy of a cymbal drill routine from 1930 and a photograph of young women performing a cymbal drill at the Martin Place Health Week demonstrations.
