When Body Image Activist Taryn Brumfitt posted an unconventional before-and-after photo in 2013 it was seen by more than 100 million people worldwide and sparked an international media frenzy. EMBRACE follows Taryn’s crusade as she explores the global issue of body loathing, inspiring us to change the way we feel about ourselves and think about our bodies.
The teaching team at Orana Physie were lucky enough to meet Taryn and hear her speak at this years BJP teachers conference. They left empowered, inspired and motivated and wanted to share the message with their club and local community.
With tipping point set at 76 for the event to go ahead, the teachers at Orana didn’t think they could pull something like this off! But with hours left they hit 124 tickets sold! To coincide with Woman’s Health Week, each guest got a free surprise goodie bag.
The guest speaker to open the night was two times Commonwealth Games gold medalist Megan Dunn. She spoke about her battles with body image as an elite athlete in cycling and now as a mum to a 20 month old.
The evening ended with a round of applause from the audience, hugs from strangers and ladies asking for a second screening! So many girls and ladies from all ages walked away with something from the movie – inspiring, thought provoking, empowering, compelling.
Orana Physical Culture are very proud to have been able to bring this event to our members and the Dubbo community and thank you for your support of this event.
