My life as a Physie lady in 5 words is ….. happy, passionate, determined, blessed and busy

My earliest Physie memory is…watching my mum at Parramatta Associate class when I was a toddler. She was a Physie teacher so Physie has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. When I started going to classes I was very anxious and shy but thankfully my mum persisted with me.

The best piece of advice I ever received was … relax, enjoy it and do your best. It is simple advice but if I’ve worked hard all year then all I can ask of myself is to do my best and have fun.

My favourite quote is… Dance with your heart and your feet will follow. I love this quote because I always perform my best when I don’t think too much and just enjoy being in the moment.

My favourite Physie moment was when… I won Senior Grand Champion for the first time. It was a dream come true and a very special moment for me and my teacher. Last year sharing a win with my daughter was another favourite moment and one that will be hard to top.

I’ll never give up Physie because… it is my happy place and I couldn’t imagine my life without it. I love everything about Physie from seeing my classmates each week, to working hard to perfect the syllabus and performing at the comps. It’s also a nice escape from the kids and the housework!

When I’m not doing Physie I’m… thinking about Physie!  I also work as a part time primary teacher and I’m a busy mum to 4 kids. I’m usually running around to soccer, basketball and ballet practice and doing endless loads of washing.

I’ll always be grateful for… the many ways physie has blessed my life. It has given me so many opportunities, wonderful friends, fitness and confidence. I am also so thankful that I can share my love of Physie with my daughter, sister and mum.

My favourite routine is… all of them! They all have their own unique elements and challenges and I love how each of them make me feel. This year I’m really enjoying having a dance again and think it’s a fun routine.

Preparing to perform on the 2022 video was… so much fun! Last time I did the DVD it was in the middle of a lockdown so a lot of it was done via zoom. It made me appreciate this year a lot more. I loved the whole process of learning the new syllabus, refining it and working hard with my teacher Kim.

My favourite thing about the video shoot was…the whole experience. I loved meeting all the lovely performers and sharing in their excitement. I have lots of happy memories of the filming, the laughs and the bloopers.

My Physie teacher always says…think happy thoughts. Your mind can be your biggest battle when competing and she always reminds me to think positive thoughts when going into a competition.

I am inspired by … the music and choreography and performing to the best of my ability.
