Phoebe Collins is a member of the Figtree Physical Culture Club. She won the 23/24 years Open Senior Section and Overall Grand Champion in 2015.

What do you like to do in the physie break? I am lucky enough to have the physie break and uni holidays fall at the same time, so I try to make the most of the hot summer days. I’m in my last year of uni so it might be the last time I have a summer break for a while! I love spending time time outside, at the beach or catching up with friends and family. I’m lucky enough to live only 200 metres from North Wollongong Beach and spend a lot of time there – relaxing at the rockpools and swimming laps in the ocean pool. There’s also a great cycle path just at the end of my street and I enjoy riding my bike up and down the Wollongong coast.

 

What’s your favourite hobby or something that people might not know about you? I’m currently in my final year of study at the University of Wollongong. In July I’ll graduate with Bachelor of Arts (Psychology) Bachelor of Commerce (Marketing) and am looking forward to starting full-time work next year.

How do you keep fit, healthy and flexible over the break so that you’re ready for the new year? While practicing physie is my main hobby most of the year, during the holidays I enjoy trying new styles of dance (this year it’s been ballroom), yoga and pilates. I also make an effort to keep stretching (almost) every day. But most of all I enjoy being able to mix fitness with fun and spend my free time hiking, swimming, rock climbing and bike riding. This year I competed in the Great Sydney Swim on Australia day! I enjoy searching for new hiking trails and swimming spots keeps me active when I’m not going to class.
