Six year old Emma isn’t frightened by an audience at all. Last Saturday she took the microphone on the centre stage at Warringah Mall Shopping Centre to tell everyone about physie.
Emma belongs to the Mosman Physie Club, who joined forces with Balgowlah and Freshwater clubs for a combined display of physie to promote our great sport. It’s wonderful to see clubs getting together, not only to promote physie, but to provide performance opportunities for their girls.
There were 80 girls performing BJP exercise and dance routines from ages 3 to 15 and, for some, it was their first ever public performance. The girls danced with big smiles and enthusiasm and the audience was captivated by their physical control and obvious self-discipline.
The parents of the performers were both amazed and delighted at the confidence and poise of the girls. The teachers too were proud of the girls and one said, “The most rewarding thing to see is when one of your students who lacks self-confidence and has never performed before gets on stage, remembers the dance routines and has a great experience.

There’s an old proverb that says “Everyone is the age of their heart”. At BJP, we agree – you really are only as old as you feel. So if you feel great, you look great too! BJP has a long tradition of keeping ladies fit and healthy and these days our ladies seem to get younger every year! Apart from keeping you fit and active, Physie keeps you mobile, more flexible and with better balance.

The phrase joi de vivre, in French literally translates to “joy of living” but it means much more than that – it suggests a delight in being alive and a healthy enjoyment of life. The expression sums up the wonderful feeling of our 2012 Easter Show performance, which all 275 performers embraced with such enthusiasm.
The BJP girls gathered together, learnt together, performed together and, most importantly, had fun together. They conquered the Sydney Easter Show arena with record audience numbers!

Lyn Creek, who has been teaching for BJP Physie for 24 years, was recently awarded a long service medal for teaching at BJP’s 120 Year celebration dinner. Lyn’s physie success was reported in the Gloucester Advocate and Manning River Times.
Here she is surrounded by some of her physie “cherubs”. Lyn’s philosophy is that physie isn’t just about exercise and dance, it’s about connecting each week with friends and being part of a network that stretches across the country.
